Radlands

Radlands Review

2012 album from the British Indie outfit, their fourth album and finest effort to date. While the band's first three LPs were recorded in London, Mystery Jets decided to spice up their lives and fly out to Austin to lay down the majority of the 11-song affair in "a big old wooden house on the banks of the Colorado River." They did, however, finish up the record with producer Dan Carey (Hot Chip, Franz Ferdinand, Emiliana Torrini) in his south London studio.

Jet Set

Jet Set Review

Jet Set is a collection of 14 carefully crafted guitar-driven songs that prove to be the most diverse and inventive of Los Straitjackets' oeuvre. The album was recorded at The Pow Wow Fun Room studios in Los Angeles with producer and friend Janne Haavisto (of Laika And The Cosmonauts) and includes a few guest appearances by The Basic Cable Horns (from the Conan show) and Finnish actress and musician Irina Bjorklund. Jet Set delivers the high-energy rock and roll instrumental music fans have come to expect from Los Straitjackets.

Official Release #5
Originally Released: November 1968
Produced by: FZ
Executive Producer: Tom Wilson

This is an album of greasy love songs & cretin simplicity. We made it because we* really like this kind of music (just a bunch of old men with rock & roll clothes on sitting around the studio mubling about the good old days**). Ten years from now you'll be sitting around with your friends some place doing the same thing if there's anything left to sit on.

The Mothers of Invention:
Ray Collins: Lead Vocals

Ian Underwood or Don Preston: Redundant Piano Triplets
Motorhead Sherwood: Baritone Sax & Tambourine

Jet Black & Jealous

Jet Black & Jealous Review

In 2008, the Eli Young Band are one of the fastest-growing on-the-road outfits in the region. The four Eli Young Band members came together purely by chance as students the University of North Texas in Denton, where roommates Mike Eli and James Young found an instant and intense shared musical sensibility. For frontman Eli, the wildfire success of the band is undeniable musical proof that some of the best things in life are just meant to be. The duo, originally known as Eli & Young, mixed their newly penned songs with covers from musical heroes like Rodney Crowell and Paul Simon and started playing regular gigs at a local dive known as the R Bar. That sleepy venue was soon alive with a full house and a full band when next-door college roommates Chris Thompson and Jon Jones joined on drums and bass respectively.
